A Symbol of Faith

The ancient fish symbol is popping up on windows around Faversham. All Faversham churches are inviting their members to display the fish prominently on their homes.

Why a fish? In the first centuries after Christ, the fish mark was used as a discreet symbol to identify disciples of Christ or Christian meeting places. The Greek word for fish is ichthys (ΙΧΘΥΣ). Early Christians created an acrostic from this word.
